Library Lighting Reduction (FY2010)

The amount of illumination in the library was about twice as much needed for the space. To eliminate the excess wattage being used, every other fixture was disconnected. In addition to this, daylighting controls and occupancy sensors were added to turn off the remaining lights when not in use. On first floor 269 fixtures were turned off, on second floor 237 fixtures, on third floor 115 fixtures and on fourth floor 915 fixtures. Disconnecting these fixtures, as well as the addition of the daylighting controls and occupancy sensors is giving us an estimated annual savings of almost $40,000 (FY10 rates).
