Post Construction & Re-pavement Site Plan Review Program Statement

The University of Northern Iowa acknowledges the importance of storm water management and is committed to the development of site projects that manage the University’s expected storm flow during and after construction.

Facilities Management

In an effort to integrate recognized storm water Best Management Practices into University projects, the Facilities Management (FM) department shall require Design Professionals or Design Representatives to continue to implement procedures and accept criteria for the consideration of implementation in post-construction runoff controls. Best Management Practice controls could include but are not limited to Bioretention cells, porous paving, and storm water detention and retention.

 

Facilities Management shall evaluate all construction projects for implementation of BMP’s for which coverage under NPDES storm water permit are required including new construction, renovation and re-pavement projects. Construction that do not meet the requirements for an NPDES permit shall also be considered for integration of post construction storm water controls.
